Louise grew up
Nanaimo, BC and went into the field of accounting. She
and husband Darrell moved to Point Roberts in 1983. They
lived just down the street from Trinity and often
attended services led by Pastor Ernie Loreen. “In those
days hospitality was in the back of the sanctuary and
when the coffee would start brewing my stomach would
growl in anticipation.”
She and Darrell married in August of 1983 and several
years later bought their current home on the westside of
the Point. Louise returned to school for formal training
in accounting. In 1991, ready for a challenge, she
purchased a business in Richmond doing the labor
intensive small volume bindery work that the big shops
did not want. Working with a group of loyal and
dedicated employees she grew the business and after 20
years she sold it.
Louise became active in the Point Roberts community,
volunteering with the Friends of the Point Roberts
Library, Home Grown Co-Op, and the Circle of Care, and
working part-time at the hardware store. At Trinity she
did altar care and hospitality and was elected to the
church council. In 2016 the church bookkeeper retired,
and the church manager left due to family illness, and
Louise took on both positions. Her accounting and
management abilities and her people skills are very
appreciated by the church staff and membership. |
